Spring Sticks for Kicks: New racquets on the market to test and raise your game

HEAD  PWR PRESTIGE

Easy to maneuver and slightly longer in length, beginners and intermediate players are advised to test the Head YOUTEK Graphene PWR Prestige. Graphene, a substance extremely light and strong, is placed in the shaft and allows weight to be strategically redistributed to the handle and tip. The end result is increased swing weight without sacrificing maneuverability, for greater penetrating shots. The combination of specifications provides big power and a large sweetspot for players with slow to moderate swings. The longer 27.33 inch length provides added reach and power. Easy to control from the baseline and powerful enough to put away volleys at the net with authority, the PWR Prestige is suited for players wanting power and spin without sacrificing comfort.

BABOLAT AEROPRO TEAM GT

If you want more spin without giving up power, test the Babolat Aeropro Team GT. Great for players 3.5 and above, the all new lightweight spec adds a hybrid of braided carbon fibers and tungsten filaments throughout the entire racquet. Tungsten strengthens the frame to reduce torque for greater precision, 26% more precision compared to previous Babolat frames. Babolat continues to utilize the Cortex vibration filter at the top of the handle, as well, which enhances the feel by cancelling only the 2 highest vibration frequencies. Only those frequencies that enhance feel are permitted to pass through the Cortex filter. The Aeropro Team GT is the lighter, more maneuverable alternative to the standard Aeropro Drive GT and more flexible, spin-friendly compared to the Pure Drive.  Add this racquet to your demo list.

Wilson Steam 105S

Recognizing that players’ desire aggressive spin, Wilson Sporting Goods Co. introduces Spin Effect Technology™, its patent-pending racquet technology dramatically increasing spin. Jon Muir, general manager for Wilson Racquet Sports, says it’s the first racquet system that enables players to add more than 200 RPMs on their shots without needing to change their swing. Wilson discovered that fewer cross strings were a key driver of maximizing string movement along with faster snapback speed to generate more spin.  This has resulted in a complete racket redesign that supports this new string pattern while enhancing overall playability as well. It is the first racket that provides up to 3.3 times more string movement and 69 percent faster snap back, specifically engineered for this style of play.
