Stars Align For 2016 Delray Beach Open

Dec 8th 2015

With Delray Beach named as a “Top 10 Tennis Town” by the USTA in 2010, it’s a natural place to see top tennis on display. And for a 10-day stretch in February, starting President’s Day weekend, the world’s top tennis stars—both past and present—will be playing at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center.

The 24th annual Delray Beach Open (Feb. 12-21, 2016) includes an ATP Champions Tour event featuring legends of the game well as an ATP World Tour event that includes current top stars in professional tennis. The three-day ATP Champions Tour event leads off the President’s Day weekend (Feb. 12-14) with the ATP World Tour matches beginning on President’s Day (Feb. 15-21).

A holiday ticket discount is in effect until December 31. Discounted ticket prices start at $14.50 for all ATP Champions Tour matches (Sessions 1-4, 50% off) and ATP World Tour matches (Sessions 5-17, 20% off) and are available at Delray Beach Holiday Promo. The promotion runs through Dec. 31

The six-player ATP Champions Tour competition is set up in a USA vs International format and pits Americans James Blake, Mardy Fish and Aaron Krickstein against the International trio of Mark Philippoussis, Greg Rusedski and Sebastien Grosjean.  Fish, a former Vero Beach and Boca Raton resident, is making his ATP Champions Tour debut. Adding to the South Florida flair: Krickstein and Grosjean are current Boca residents, and Philippoussis lived in Delray for a time.

The ATP World Tour will feature current Canadian superstar Milos Raonic (world No. 14), who will be bent on reaching back into the Top 10 in 2015.  Rising talent Grigor Dimitrov (world No. 28) and 2006 Delray Beach champion Tommy Haas have also signed on, and a handful of Top 20s are expected to join the 32-player field before the end of 2015.

Also confirmed and on their way to Delray Beach are the No. 1 doubles duo Bryan Brothers and consecutive winners of the ATP’s “Fan Favorites” award. The twins are seeking their fifth Delray Beach crown.
