Charlotte, N.C. – The second annual Stockton Cup presented by Olde Providence Tennis Academy will return to historic Olde Providence Racquet Club in Charlotte September 6-11. The competition is a prize money event named after Dick Stockton, a former top-10 player in the world.

Stockton won 8 career singles titles, and 16 doubles titles during his career, reached the semifinals of both Wimbledon and Roland Garros, and twice reached the quarterfinals of the US Open. He peaked at world no. 8 in 1977.

During his career, he defeated players such as Jimmy Connors, Arthur Ashe, John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, and Ilie Nastase, and he played on the US Davis Cup team 5 times.

In the past, the tournament has produced a quality draw from many players not only in the southeast, but across the country and has attracted players originally from a variety of countries. Many collegiate players competed and some who have competed in some ITF events.

Organizers expect a quality draw once again this year.
