November 18, 2015 - Swedish tennis great Stefan Edberg was honored at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London earlier this week in a special ceremony to present his official Hall of Fame ring.

Edberg, who achieved the world No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles, was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2004. The Hall of Fame rings are one-of-a-kind pieces that are presented to Hall of Famers at tennis events around the world to commemorate their recognition as being among the sport's greatest champions and leaders. Edberg, known for his dominant serve-and-volley game, was ranked in the world top-10 for ten successive years. He won six Grand Slam singles titles, and three men's doubles titles at majors. In all, Edberg won 41 singles titles over the course of his Hall of Fame career. Additionally, he was a part of four championship Swedish Davis Cup teams.

The ring was presented by International Tennis Hall of Fame Chairman Christopher Clouser and CEO Todd Martin, before a packed arena of fans following an exciting match in which Roger Federer, coached by Edberg, defeated Novak Djokovic to advance to the semifinals.

During the ceremony, Edberg spoke to the packed arena about his career recollections, citing his first Wimbledon victory as a particularly meaningful moment of his career, and he spoke about his appreciation for the sport and for this particular recognition of his career.  “Tennis has been such a big part of my life and still is today. I must say, today, this is probably the greatest generation of all time, that I've seen, so just being part of that and also, being part of the International Tennis Hall of Fame really means a lot to me,” said Edberg, who then wrapped up the ceremony by encouraging the fans to make a trip to visit to experience the Hall of Fame firsthand someday.
