DANIEL ISLAND, S. C. – Tennis players Sloane Stephens, World No. 18, and Madison Keys, World No. 36, played tennis on a temporary court built in near the Charleston harbor for a promotional shoot for the Family Circle Cup.  The 42nd Family Circle Cup is currently taking place in Charleston, SC, March 29 – April 6.

It was quite breezy for the two Americans, but the friends traded playful rallies as local media snapped photos and captured video of the gorgeous scene, complete with seagulls, sailboats and the Arthur Ravenel Bridge.

Charleston is a beautiful city,” said the 19-year-old Keys, who is in Charleston for the second straight year.  “I love Charleston,” Keys said. “I love the food, the tournament is so great and the people are so friendly!”

Lucky spectators gathered on the dock as Keys and Stephens adapted to playing on the wooden surface.  “You never know where the ball is going to bounce,” laughed Stephens, 21. “This view is absolutely amazing.”

Stephens, the No. 5 seed, received a first-round bye. Keys, seeded No. 15, played veteran Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in her opener winning 7-6(0) 7-6(3). A year ago Keys marched all the way to the quarterfinals here, losing to Venus Williams.
