Rankings Watch: Victor Estrella Burgos, Jurgen Melzer

Veteran Victor Estrella Burgos gained 63 spots in the ATP live rankings after defeating Thomas Bellucci in the Quito final.  The 36-year old has three career ATP tour titles, all of them coming at the Ecuador Open. The native of the Dominican Republic has won the Quito title the last three years and with the win moved to world no. 93.

Estrella Burgos became the oldest player to win a maiden ATP tour title after winning the 2015 Ecuador Open at the age of 34. Incidentally, Bellucci gained 25 spots despite his loss, moving to world no. 75.

Elsewhere, another veteran spiked in the rankings over the weekend. 35-year old Jurgen Melzer gained 57 spots after winning the Budapest Challenger. He moved to world no. 200 in the live rankings after the win. Melzer has five career ATP titles and was a 2010 semifinalist at Roland Garros. The Austrian broke into the top-10 in April of 2011
