LONDON – Andy Murray has clinched his spot at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, to be held at The O2 in London from 13-20 November, by defeating Tomas Berdych in the Wimbledon semi-finals. He is the second qualifier in the elite eight-man field, joining World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

The 29-year-old Scot finished runner-up to Djokovic at the season’s first two Grand Slam championships, and will face Canadian Milos Raonic in Sunday’s final. In 2013, Murray triumphed over Djokovic to end a 77-year wait for a British men’s champion at the All England Club.

“I love playing at The O2 in front of a home crowd. The support is always amazing and it's a great tournament,” said Murray. “I have had a good first half of the season and hope to continue that right the way through to London at the end of the year.”

Murray, who qualifies for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals for a ninth straight season, will attempt to become the first British player to win the prestigious season finale. He has an 11-11 tournament match record, highlighted by semi-final appearances in 2008, ’10 and ’12.

In addition to final runs at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, Murray has reached three other title matches this season. A week after falling to Djokovic in the Mutua Madrid Open final, the World No. 2 celebrated his 29th birthday by defeating his Serbian rival at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome, for his 12th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophy. Ahead of Wimbledon, he claimed a record-breaking fifth Aegon Championships title at the Queen’s Club (d. Raonic).

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals has welcomed more than 1.8 million fans to The O2 arena over the past seven years, establishing itself as the biggest indoor tennis tournament in the world since moving to London in 2009. A record 102 million broadcast viewers also tuned in across the eight days of competition in 2015. The ATP announced last year that the event would remain at The O2 through to 2018.
