Kona Ice to Make Donation to Sunrise Children's Hospital From Red Rock Pro Open Proceeds

Sep 20th 2016

SUMMERLIN – The Red Rock Pro Open, Las Vegas’ only professional women’s tennis tournament, and tournament director Mike Copenhaver have announced that Kona Ice, a shaved ice company known for giving back to the community, will be donating 20% of their proceeds from the 2016 Red Rock Pro Open to Sunrise Children's Hospital.  Kona Ice will be present at the Sunrise Children’s Hospital Kids Day Event Sunday Sept. 25 from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m., as well as the finals weekend, Oct. 1 and 2.

The Red Rock Pro Open is a USTA Pro Circuit Women’s $50,000  tournament featuring some of the upcoming and rising stars of the WTA professional women’s tour. The tournament will take place Sept. 25-Oct. 2 at the Red Rock Country Club.

Copenhaver also announced that a UNLV women’s player will be granted a singles wild card into the tournament and their prize money will be donated to the G Alex Foundation, a local Las Vegas charitable organization that promotes health through tennis and wellness. The foundation and the Red Rock Country Club have teamed up on successful events in the past, such as Davis Kup in the Spring and the Red Rock Team Tennis in the summer.

It’s our goal to help the community and give back as much as we can, and so we are appreciative of our partnership with Kona Ice, Sunrise Children’s Hospital and the G Alex Foundation,” Copenhaver said. “We’re looking forward to not only a great week of professional women’s tennis on the court, but also using our tournament to help the community off the court.”
