Indian Wells: Bouchard, Jankovic Highlight Thursday Play

Thursday at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, the first round of the men’s main draw kicks off and the women are on their second day of battling it out for a spot in the second round.

Here are some of the matches you might want to tune in to today:

At 11 am PST in Stadium 2, American wildcard Bjorn Fratangelo, 23, is facing off with Bernard Tomic, 24. This will be their first meeting. Fratangelo is 0-2 this season, but qualified for the Australian Open before losing to Rubin in a first round five set match. Tomic is 2-5 this season and holds 3 ATP titles.

Not before 1 pm PST in Stadium 1, Jelena Jankovic takes on American wild card Irina Falconi. Jankovic is making her 16th appearance at the tournament, more than any other player. She took home the title in 2010. Falconi is making her fourth main draw appearance at the tournament; in 2012 she made it to the second round before falling to Sam Stosur.

Not before 7 pm PST German Annika Beck is taking on Canadian Eugenie Bouchard. Their head to head is an even 1-1, their ages an even 23 and 23. Bouchard is making her fifth appearance, having reached the Round of 16 on two occasions. In 2014, Beck made it into the third round before falling to Agnieszka Radwanska.
