The Australian Open has announced that they have increased their purse to $50 million Australian dollars in 2017. That is just over $36 million in American dollars. It is a 14 percent increase from the 2016 tournament.

“We are committed to further improving the pay and conditions on the international tennis tour to ensure every professional tennis player is properly compensated,” said Tournament Director Craig Tiley.
